Kaneyoshi Ryokan was a very comfortable and cozy place to stay in the heart of Dotonbori. About a 6 minute walk to Kintensu-Nipponbashi station and about 10 minutes to Namba Station (Namba Station has a whole Underground mall so you can walk to the main station thru there with Aircon). The room was spacious and the bathroom was so clean and water pressure was nice! They have house keep everyday from 7am-12am. Futons were comfy enough and air conditioning in the room was great! Fridge needed time to boot up, but once it cooled up it was good to go. View from balcony area was right in front of the Canal boat tour stand. Although i couldn’t go into the onsen because of my tattoos, i still wear the yukata they provided. Staff was very helpful with everything. They helped me with my luggage forwarding to my next accommodation and also helped me with calling another hotel i was staying at about some special assistance I needed from them. My partner also appreciated the Designated Smoking area. All in all, it was a nice place to stay and would recommend if you want something that’s not a hotel.

Kaneyoshi Ryokan was the ideal base for exploring Osaka. The location is unbeatable—right in the center, with a stunning view of the river in a quieter part of Dotonbori. It almost felt too good to be true! One of my favorite things about this ryokan was its retro, Showa-era charm. If you love that aesthetic, you’ll adore this place. Everything was spotlessly clean, and we slept wonderfully on the futons in an incredibly spacious room—especially by Japanese standards. The onsen was another highlight. Around 5 PM, it was completely empty, making it the perfect place to relax after a long day of walking. Lastly, the staff was fantastic—always helpful and ready to answer any questions. The man at the front desk even gave us great tips for both Osaka and Kobe! If you’re looking for a well-located, nostalgic, and comfortable stay in Osaka, this ryokan is a great choice.

Great location, right off Dotonbori but also walking distance to Orange Street and various train lines. We had a lovely tatami room and a view of the river. We had breakfast one day which was one of the best breakfasts we had in Japan - super traditional, sitting on a cushion on tatami, and lots of small dishes to try. The staff were also very kind and if they needed to ask us a question, they gave us a sheet with pretranslated questions and answers that we could point at, so communication was easy. Our room always had a new snack in it after every day, which we loved. The onsen was very clean and so nice to have! We were easily able to leave our bags for free in the lobby when we weren't leaving Osaka til much later after checkout. Great accommodation in Osaka!

Really comfortable room - we loved the tatami flooring and futons, and the layout was great with the separated window room looking out over the river. Comfiest pillows of the whole holiday (we stayed in 5 hotels over 3 weeks). The location was ideal, though maybe not great if you have children with you. The onsen was fabulous - I am quite heavily tattooed and they had no problem with it all, so it was the only onsen I had the opportunity to use during my holiday.

It’s a ryokan style hotel in the heart of Osaka. We had our luggages sent forward from our previous hotel and we found them in our traditional style room already. Tea and biscuits are offered in the room, plus the traditional breakfast was over the top. Staff is soooo kind. We just stayed one night before going back to our country but we were even able to use their little onsen. Front door is locked between 01-06 Am so if you’re a night owl keep that in mind.
